New Plasma Cutting Electrodes help owners of Hypertherm HySpeed systems double their current consumable life

Hypertherm, a manufacturer of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting systems, is introducing new SilverPlus® electrodes for its HySpeed® HSD130 plasma cutting systems.
Like all versions of Hypertherm’s SilverPlus electrode, this electrode is proven in Hypertherm laboratory testing to last more than twice as long as a standard copper tipped electrode. In addition, the electrode delivers a very consistent range 4 and 5 cut quality throughout its life helping HySpeed plasma owners lower their operating cost and enjoy improved cut quality.

The electrodes, protected by patent, are created by fusing a solid silver tip on to a copper electrode base and then inserting a hafnium pin into the tip. This serves to dramatically slow the electrode’s wear rate as silver disperses heat better than copper. Hypertherm’s electrodes are further differentiated by a superior bond between the hafnium and silver for more consistent wear rates, deeper pit depths, and more robustness to ramp down errors and hard failures.

“Our SilverPlus electrodes have long been recognized for delivering proven performance benefits to owners and operators of our HyPerformance systems,” says Martin Geheran, a consumables product manager at Hypertherm. “Now HySpeed plasma system owners can enjoy that same benefit while reducing their overall operating cost through the purchase of fewer electrodes and even nozzles, as the increased electrode life also translates into double the nozzle life.”

Using genuine Hypertherm consumables for your Hypertherm plasma cutting system is the only way to ensure optimal performance. Patented technology and precision manufacturing combine to deliver increased cut speed, better edge quality, and longer consumable life. In addition, genuine Hypertherm consumables are backed by industry-leading service and training through Hypertherm’s HySupport program.

Hypertherm designs and manufactures advanced cutting products for use in a variety of industries such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automotive repair. Its product line includes plasma, laser and waterjet cutting systems, in addition to CNC motion and height controls, CAM nesting software, and consumables.

Hypertherm systems are trusted for performance and reliability that result in increased productivity and profitability for hundreds of thousands of businesses. The company’s reputation for cutting innovation dates back nearly 50 years to 1968, with Hypertherm’s invention of water injection plasma cutting. The 100 percent associate owned company has more than 1,300 associates along with operations and partner representation worldwide.
