Improve workpiece quality, reduce cycle time: The customized grinding concepts of the JUNKER Group met with keen interest at the EMO in Milan

At the EMO the JUNKER Group showcased its products for the first time in Europe together with its latest member ZEMA. It was once again obvious that the customized grinding concepts that the Group develops for workpieces regardless of their complexity is the result of an intensive dialogue with its customers.

The circular grinding machine Numerika GH 1000 by ZEMA attracted a great deal of attention. The Brazilian grinding machine manufacturer became a member of the JUNKER Group in March. The sophisticated machine concept surprised visitors to the exhibition where it immediately became apparent that ZEMA is competing on an equal footing with European manufacturers. ZEMA can offer its customers sound workmanship, simple operation using the Fanuc or Siemens control and choice of components thanks to its close cooperation with globally renowned suppliers.

Visitors were also able to take a closer look at a newly developed workhead at the JUNKER JUMAT 1S when grinding the threads of ball screw nuts. With two opposing clamping devices, downtimes can be minimized considerably: while grinding on the one side, workpieces are unloaded, loaded, clamped and positioned on the other. The only downtime: Swiveling by 180 degrees in less than 3 seconds.

Numerous inquiries came in particular from Italian customers with regard to the Lean Selection speed. One or two high-performance grinding spindles mounted at the swivel-action wheelhead (B-axis) work using both the plunge-cut and QUICKPOINT grinding methods. Thanks to this flexibility feature, it is predestined for use in smaller workshops.

The LTA Lufttechnik presented its filtration solution at its own booth in Hall 11. The electrostatic oil and emulsion mist filters met with great approval. The modular design renders them suitable for the group or central extraction of several machine tools.

All in all, the JUNKER Group is satisfied with the outcome of this year’s EMO. Contracts were concluded, existing customer contacts maintained and promising contacts established – also as regards the search for new sales engineers for the Italian market.

    The JUNKER Group

The companies which make up the JUNKER Group develop, produce & sell precision grinding machines for the metalworking industry, as well as air filters for industrial air purification. A global workforce of 1400 employees is actively working to secure the success of the JUNKER, ZEMA and LTA brands.

JUNKER has been instrumental in shaping today’s grinding industry with high-speed grinding machines and ground-breaking inventions since 1962. Today, JUNKER is the world market leader in the manufacturing of CBN grinding machines. Their fields of application range from crankshafts to screw taps. The Group’s customers are located anywhere ultra-precise metal grinding is vital – predominantly in the automotive engineering and tool industries.

ZEMA, founded in 1953, employs a workforce of over 80 and produces CNC grinding machines with corundum grinding wheels. The traditional Brazilian company draws on ingenious machine concepts for grinding transmission, turbocharger and cardan shafts as well as grinding the flange and journal on crankshafts. Its customers come predominantly from the automotive engineering industry and its suppliers, as well as from tool building. ZEMA has been part of the JUNKER Group since February, 2015 and utilizes the Group’s worldwide sales and service network accordingly.

LTA Lufttechnik GmbH is a technological leader in filtration solutions. The air flow specialists research, develop and manufacture filtration systems for industrial air purification. With its constantly growing portfolio of clean air innovations, the company impresses its clients all over the world – from machine shops and small business to global corporations.
