Sunil Joshi appointed as president of Sandvik Coromant sales for India

The machine tools market in India is expected to grow by USD 1.9 billion by 2024, with one of the key drivers being a steep rise in industrial automation. To help support manufacturers in India and take advantage of this projected growth, global leader in metal cutting Sandvik Coromant has appointed Sunil Joshi as the new president of sales for India at its center in Pune. With over 21 years’ experience within Sandvik Coromant, Sunil will work to transform the existing sales organization in India and drive growth of the company in the region.

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering qualification from Pune university and a post graduate diploma in marketing management from Symbiosis Institute, Sunil joined Sandvik Coromant as a productivity improvement engineer in 2000. Since then, Sunil has worked in a range of roles within the organization, such as area sales manager for Pune and vice president of machining sales for south and east Asia.

Along his career journey, Sunil has collected a wealth of experience in engineering, sales and business management. The well-rounded skills Sunil has acquired throughout his years working at Sandvik Coromant will help him to drive the company’s growth in India as part of his new position as president of sales.

A key part of Sunil’s new role will be to transform the existing sales organisation to make the sales experience even better for local customers. To support India’s vast and sizeable geography, cultivating an effective sales distribution channel will be important in expanding Sandvik Coromant’s success across the country. With an extensive background in sales, Sunil will ensure any changes made to the sales structure run smoothly and with high success.

“One of our core values at Sandvik Coromant is customer focus, which means we ensure our work adds value to customers and we respond to their needs,” said Sunil. “Because of this, we’re concentrating on revolutionising our sales organisation to provide the ultimate service for our customers in India.

“Team building, collaboration and customer engagement are my greatest interests. I believe these factors help construct a robust, effective and agile sales team, which will drive Sandvik Coromant’s growth in India. This will be supported by our continued efforts to assist our distributors in advancing to the next level,” explained Sunil.

“India is experiencing a big push towards lean manufacturing, which is casing a surge in automation adoption and thus presenting a significant opportunity within the machining industry. As part of my new role, I will support the development of an efficient sales team that will help our new and existing customers take capitalise on the new opportunities, and drive Sandvik Coromant’s growth in the region.
