A longstanding industry association
Established in 1946, IMTMA is the apex industry association representing India’s machine tool sector. The association has around 570 member companies from the public and private sectors. Its membership represents a broad spectrum of the industry, including manufacturers of metal cutting and metal forming machines, subsystems, accessories, cutting tools and other related equipment. Over the years, IMTMA has played an active role in supporting the development of the machine tool industry and bringing together manufacturers and other stakeholders across the sector. Supporting the growth of the machine tool industry.
Supporting development of the machine tool sector
Activities of IMTMA span across various areas which facilitate industry growth such as policy lobbying, knowledge sharing, research analysis, product displays, workshops, training, and enhancing skill development.
With these efforts, the organization opens avenues for exchange of ideas and development of competencies besides being the industrial voice of machine tool companies.
The association’s present day efforts show us yet again how greatly the collaboration between the manufacturing sector players is contributing to the upgrading of India’s manufacturing base to a qualitatively higher level.
Looking ahead
With the new Executive Committee in place, IMTMA has begun its 2026–27 term with Ms. Mohini Kelkar as President and Mr. Vikram Salunke as Vice President.
For an association that has been part of India’s machine tool industry since 1946, the 80th AGM marks another point in its ongoing journey.
The coming year will see the new leadership take forward IMTMA’s work across industry representation, knowledge sharing, exhibitions, training and other initiatives supporting the machine tool sector.
We wish Ms. Kelkar and Mr. Salunke the very best for their term. MTW will keep following IMTMA and bring you more from the industry.
