The comprehensive range of more than 16,000 products includes safety switches, solenoid interlocks, emergency stop – switches, security sensors, safety mats with safety function, photoelectric light barriers and end switches, which include limit switches, position switches and micro switches.
Based on this program Schmersal configured, within the scope of the “Safety Services” from tec.nicum tailor-made systems and industry solutions for machine safety.
Schmersal’s safety services include application consulting, CE conformity assessment, risk assessment in accordance with the Machinery Directive, stop time measurements, training courses, guarding solutions, safety fences, and so on. The company has proven expertise in areas like machine safety, automation, explosion protection, and hygienic design.
Global Competence Center
As part of its global strategy, Schmersal India established in 2022 a new competence center for IT, software and engineering services in India by the name Schmersal Global Competence Centre.
This latest facility of the Schmersal Group was established in the central part of Pune (Nucleus Mall, Camp) in 2018 Over the years it flourished from 2 to 43 team members. Custom Application Development, Microsoft Technologies, and SAP are overseen under IT services, whereas Embedded Development and IoT are its fundamental areas of focus. Working as a separate entity from manufacturing site of Schmersal India Pvt. Ltd. at Ranjangaon, Schmersal Global Competence Centre executes all functions and responsibilities of the ITCC (IT Competence Centre) and Engineering Center.
Schmersal is accessible to businesses across the globe. The company has also started a webshop to purchase safety products online which will be sent direct to customers.
“The year 2023 was a fantastic year for Schmersal India in which we celebrated milestones in our journey towards making India and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” by celebrating 10 years of our manufacturing facility. Despite many challenges, we achieved one million safety switches production and clocked 100 crores in our domestic sales,” says the company.
The Schmersal Global Competence Centre has also achieved remarkable milestones such as digital LOTO implementation and Industry Internet of Things (IIoT) Integration for a white goods giant in India.
With this both the companies in India viz. SIPL and SGCC became qualified for the sobriquet, “Great Place to Work” in the very first year.
Journey towards sustainable development
The year 2024 started with a bang. The first ever solar power plant in Schmersal’s production site became operational, thus registering Schmersal’s concern and contribution towards sustainable development. The plant was inaugurated on 8th of January by Sven S. Jacobi, Head of Quality Management, Schmersal Group. This epochal event was celebrated with pomp and gaiety. The plant will supplement the energy requirement of the factories to the extent of 50%. Schmersal India is the seventh Schmersal subsidiary in which produces ‘green electricity’ from its own photovoltaic systems.
The in-house testing facility developed by Schmersal Quality Department has added yet another feather in its cap. The facility performs endurance and life cycle tests on existing as well as newly developed products. Schmersal subjects each and every safety product to a stringent quality regimen to ensure its conformity to high quality standards.
“We have ambitious growth plans – so much so that we hope to double our production by 2025 in India with 100 per cent localization by 2026. We are also planning to start an electronic product assembly at our plant in India. We also aim to get accreditation for our in-house QC labs by 2026. That’s not all. We are working towards achieving our target of Rs. 250 cr domestic sales in the current fiscal,” states Sagar Bhosale, Managing Director, Schmersal India.
