    1,100 exhibitors from 23 countries take centre stage at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru

    Bengaluru, 23 January 2025: Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) formally inaugurated its flagship IMTEX, Tooltech & Digital Manufacturing 2025, on 23 January 2025 at BIEC, Bengaluru. The exhibition showcases the latest trends and technological advancements from the Indian and global machine tool industries.

    Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, Government of India; Dr. M.B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka; Mr. Laxmesh B.H., Vice President & Head, Aerospace & Systems Business, Larsen & Toubro Limited; and Mr. Prashanth Doreswamy, President & CEO, Continental Automotive (India) Pvt. Ltd. lighted the inaugural lamp.

    Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej, Chairman – Exhibitions, IMTMA; Mr. Rajendra S. Rajamane, President, IMTMA; Ms. Mohini Kelkar, Vice President, IMTMA; and Mr. Jibak Dasgupta, Director General & CEO, IMTMA also shared the dais at the inauguration.

    Speaking at the event as a Chief Guest, Shri Kumaraswamy said that a strong machine tool industry is essential for a robust manufacturing sector. Karnataka generates around 50% of India’s machine tools and is sometimes even called the machine tool capital of India. He also added that the machine tool industry as part of the Capital Goods sector, contributes significantly to the economy of India, apart from generating employment.

    Speaking about the exhibition, Special Guest of Honour, Dr. M.B. Patil said that machine tool sector is the cornerstone of manufacturing. Indian machine tool industry has grown significantly over the years, metal cutting is an important segment in this growth.

    Mr. Laxmesh BH in his address stated that IMTEX is a confluence of great ideas and minds coming together and contributing to manufacturing growth of India. Mr. Prashanth Doreswamy in his speech said that machine tool industry is a key contributor to several industries including the auto sector. He highlighted that around 55% of the machine tools production in India is consumed by the auto industry.

    Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej said that this was the largest ever IMTEX, the exhibition is a great success with good support from exhibitors and visitors. He also highlighted the importance of the long-awaited metro that BIEC was waiting for in boosting exhibitions and events.

    In his address at the inauguration, Mr. Rajendra S. Rajamane said that India ranks 9th in Production and 6th in Consumption, globally, as per estimates from Gardner Intelligence’s World Machine Tool Survey 2023. The machine tool industry production is estimated to have increased by around 10% year-on-year, reaching ₹ 13,571 crores which is around (US $ 1.6 billion).

    IMTEX 2025, taking place from 23 to 29 January 2025, is convening machine tool user industry leaders, policymakers and innovators from around the world to find actionable solutions for the future. The exhibition highlights cutting-edge technologies, ambitious expansion initiatives, and investment opportunities that align with global business goals.

    Machine tool builders are presenting new products such as smart and intelligent machines, high-precision, high-performance, multi-tasking, hybrid machines and special purpose machines, robots, cobots, AGVs, tools, accessories, manufacturing software, 3D Printers, 3D printing solutions, evolving Industry 4.0 hardware, software, customized solutions, and many more.

    Apart from a display of products and solutions, various programmes have been lined up at IMTEX 2025. The International Seminar on Machining Technologies on 24 and 25 January 2025 will have global experts sharing insights into emerging trends and best practices in metal cutting. The i2 Academia Pavilion provides an opportunity for Indian academic and R&D institutions to showcase their research capabilities and make it available for commercial use.

    The Auto Components Industry Transformation Summit (on 26 January 2025), organized by IMTMA and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), is expected to further strengthen the ties between the machine tool and auto component industries.
