Maintenance Notification Software uses the principle of preventative maintenance rather than breakdown maintenance to reduce machine downtime. As with a high performing vehicle, a regular program of preventative maintenance is essential for maximising the performance of your CNC tool and cutter grinder and reducing down-time. Over the long term this also ensures the longevity and return on investment for the customer by extending the lifecycle of the machine. However, in today’s busy production environment even the most organised business may fall behind in their maintenance schedule. Simon Richardson, ANCA Product Manager said: “To make it as easy as possible for…

Kennametal’s Mill 16 has a wedge-style clamping system, numbered pockets and inserts, and an open pocket design to increase chip flow in heavy roughing Iron is the most abundant element on earth by mass. For over twenty-five centuries it’s been used to plow fields, build bridges, cook food, and wage war. Without iron, the Industrial Revolution would have gone nowhere, we would have no trains, automobiles, or machine tools today, and mankind would still be an agrarian society. It is quite simply the most important metal in history. There’s a newcomer to this metal family, though, one that’s making manufacturers…

High speed data capture technique cuts calibration time 85-95 percent, minimising downtime on key assets The word “laser” implies “light speed” for the casual listener, but witnessing a bi-directional laser calibration run on just one linear axis of a CNC mill conjures up a completely different image – that of something less than the speed of light. A short 1 m axis can typically take 30 to 60 minutes as the machine axis moves in 10 mm increments and stops to pause and settle before the laser interferometer takes a reading. That pause can be as long as 23 seconds…
