Q. Who are We?
API Metrology India, based in Pune, is the subsidiary of Automated Precision Inc. and it is into dimensional metrology solutions. API is the known name in laser trackers and machine tool calibration market in India. We are a team of real metrologists to solve any challenge related to metrology.
Vaibhav Shah is the Managing Director at Automated Precision Inc. for the Asia Pacific, India, and UAE region. Vaibhav’s journey with API has yielded remarkable results in company turnover, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation management across regions. With diversified experience and rich domain knowledge into dimensional metrology, Vaibhav leads the current Indian team not only to demonstrate product and solution basket but also to provide customized service solutions in the field of calibration for industries like aerospace, automotive, energy, and defense. Under his guidance, API Metrology India has started performance measurement and evaluation of CNC machines. API, today, is the only OEM in India to offer extensive calibration and repair service for its own equipment as well as for other brands of metrology.
Vaibhav completed his dual master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. He also completed the Senior Executive Programme from IIM, Calcutta. He started his career in Electronics but very soon switched to metrology and had eleven years of experience in different organizations of global repute before joining API. Today, Vaibhav possesses eighteen years of strong expertise and exposure in the dimensional metrology industry.
Vaibhav’s journey with API started in 2015 in Product development supporting the global team in the US. Later in 2016, he took the responsibility as General Manager for India and Southeast Asia. He was responsible for managing the P/L for India and SEA operations. His wide exposure and knowledge of the Indian industry, have enabled him to establish a strong connection with end-users. In May 2017, he was promoted as the Managing Director and was responsible to build a strong base and network for brand API.
API Global:
API is the inventor of laser tracker and laser interferometer. Globally, API is headquartered in the USA and has its network across Europe, North America, Brazil, and various other subcontinents. API has almost 200+ employees and an active reseller network across the world.
For more than 30 years API has pioneered laser-based equipment for measurement and calibration. API founder and CEO, Dr. Kam Lau, invented the laser tracker while working at USA’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to allow industrial robot accuracies to be determined.
Today API is a global company with its Laser Trackers, machine tool and robot calibration equipment, optical sensors, and coordinate measuring products continuing to be the benchmark for metrology Automation, Precision, and Innovation. We can scan a prototype part to create a model for mass production, inspect the first pieces off the production line to ensure accuracy, do spot checks throughout the manufacturing process to maintain repeatability, reverse engineer old parts to return them to production, and calibrate machine tools to check for inaccuracies and help compensate for their errors. At our Globally-Local Calibration Labs, we not only calibrate API’s Radian Laser Tracker series, but we can even certify other tracker brands.

Inspection & Alignment:

Generated 3D measurement data from our portable metrology equipment and 3D scanners offers a comprehensive analysis of the physical part under measurement.

The API team has experience across all manufacturing sectors and can support your short-term bottle-neck or longer term production measurement and calibration needs.
Prototype Inspection:
On-site measurement service for prototype parts using laser tracker for large volume parts or portable arm CMM with optional laser scanning for smaller parts.
Calibration service:
API’s laser alignment service will maintain your machine tools in good working order by ensuring proper alignment. API also offers robot performance verification and laser tracker calibration services.
