Matrix machine Tool (Coventry) Ltd., born in 1913 in Coventry U.K. has supplied machines all over the world ever since. Matrix is well-known in India since 1930’s for their Thread Grinding and other machine types. It has been proud to be part of India’s growth in manufacturing and technology.

Presently, Matrix manufactures grinding machines for Thread, Worm & Gear products. Needless to say, India is one of the largest markets for Matrix Thread grinding machines and literally over two to three thousand machines are still in operation in India. Some of these machines are over 50 years old and still holding micron tolerances.

“Some few years ago, it was decided that Matrix would return to gear machine processing manufacture as this was seen as complimentary to our thread and worm grinders.  We understood the fierce competition in this market but it was felt that with our reputation and experience we would be able to make a good functioning product for our customers old and new and continue to aid the production process.

With our past experience in Gear grinding, and building on our current gear form grinders also discussing and listening to the focused comments of our customers, Matrix is poised to introduce our next generation of gear form grinder. The new GVC-0500 Profile and Generating Gear Grinding Machine. The GVC-0500 is solely designed and built by Matrix using our traditional methods of manufacture and design. As with all our machines we use our own tried and tested methods of construction and assembly which has been the backbone of Matrix machines for 112 years.

The new CNC GVC-0500 machine will have three interchangeable functions available, external gear form grinding, internal gear form grinding and generating gear form grinding for faster processing of gears. This will allow a much greater production flexibility for our customers in a world where having flexibility of function is a necessity to keep up with demand. The customer can grind precision internal and external gears and when production rate needs to be increased for external gear forms the machine can be operated in generating mode.”

The machine will have the most up to date and top of the range SIEMENS control on a large screen display with Matrix easy operate software allowing a smooth operator interface with easy to manage interface functions for correction and manipulation of the gear form and contact surfaces. The high precision generating gearbox is also of SIEMENS supply.

The GVC-0500 will incorporate contactless stock division for pre-machined gears. Optional in process measurement will be available for inspection and adjustment of gear tooth form and contact surface during production. When the first gear has been produced and inspected, any deviations and corrections can be made via the intuitive software to achieve satisfactory results.

Grinding wheel dressing will be by interpolation on rotating dressing disc using machine main axis for more accurate dressing. This will dress both the standard grinding wheel and the ‘threaded’ wheel for gear generation grinding.

The coolant delivery is via Matrix Coolant Pack with full filtration and cooling integral to the unit and delivering sufficient clean coolant at pressure to the point of need designed for reliability and easy maintenance.

“This is an entirely new venture machine that Matrix will be introducing and we will be exhibiting around the world at the prestigious machine tool exhibitions as soon as possible. We would ask that you watch our websites and news entries and technical publications see where this machine will be on display. We will welcome our customers old, new and prospective and take pleasure in introducing the GVC-0500. Our friendly and informative technical sales staff can show your around the machine and discuss technical and commercial details with you.

We expect that we will be very competitive in terms of pricing against existing manufacturers and it gives us great pleasure to offer an alternative to current manufacturers of machines in this category.”

“In conclusion it will give Matrix great pride in aiding the Indian manufacturers and helping production and technology in our small way. It is a tradition we hold to and the pride we take in manufacturing new machines for the market will never fade. We know that once installed the machine will produce thousands of components that will be used around the world in products that are essential to our way of life. As a company Matrix looks forward to the next 112 years with enthusiasm.”
