    The Situation and Opportunity
Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc., based in Ponca City, OK, has built a reputation for reliability and longevity, with its VacuMaid® central vacuum systems often exceeding 20 years of service in residential settings.

Customers in specialty and high-usage environments bring those same expectations for durability to commercial floorcare applications.

Recognizing that these environments present unique and intensified demands, Lindsay Manufacturing identified an opportunity to further innovate, pursuing an even more robust motor solution to ensure its systems continue to surpass customer expectations in every context

    The Solution
To solve this problem, Lindsay Manufacturing partnered with Bison®, their trusted motor supplier for years and manufacturer of Lamb Vacuum Motors, to develop a durable and long-lasting solution.

Through close collaboration with Bison’s engineering team, Lindsay Manufacturing successfully introduced a new version of the Lamb 6.6-inch, 120-volt, 2-stage Tangential High-Performance Vacuum Motor.

This redesigned motor delivered a significant boost in both performance and longevity. With an impressive 3,000-hour lifespan, the new motor is engineered to withstand up to 3 years of heavy use, even in demanding environments—more than double the longevity of the previous motor from another supplier.

The Lamb 120V, 6.6” 3000-hour Vacuum Motor, manufactured by Bison, not only ensures reliable power but also resolves electrical interference issues, making it ideal for locations with sensitive lighting systems.

Additionally, Lindsay Manufacturing and Bison collaborated on a new, durable metal mounting bracket designed to ensure secure installation and simplify motor replacements.

This innovative bracket streamlines the process, allowing dealers to swap out motor pods with minimal downtime.

“We worked closely with Bison’s engineering team to create a solution that addressed all of our challenges,” said Natalie Fraser, Lindsay Manufacturing’s US Sales Manager for VacuMaid.

“The new 6.6”, 3000-hour Lamb Vacuum Motor has exceeded our expectations, offering both an extended lifespan and improved reliability in even the most demanding environments.”

    Inspiration – What’s Next?
“We’re thrilled with this success and look forward to continuing our partnership with Bison,” Fraser added. “Their team’s commitment to quality and innovation has been a game changer for us.

We trust their expertise to help us continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the vacuum industry.”

Lindsay Manufacturing uses a variety of Lamb Vacuum Motors in both residential central vacuum systems and commercial applications.

Bison motors also power their Garage Vac product line, a direct-to-consumer system sold on Amazon.

“We see Bison as more than just a motor supplier—they’re an engineering partner,” said Fraser. “Their willingness to collaborate and solve problems with us has been key to our success.

We’re excited to explore new opportunities with them, whether it’s for central vacuum systems or entirely new markets.”

Looking ahead, Lindsay Manufacturing plans to leverage Bison’s engineering expertise to address emerging challenges and expand their product offerings into new segments beyond central vacuums.

    Results
This strategic motor upgrade has elevated performance, simplified maintenance, and allowed dealers to replace motor pods quickly and efficiently.

Lindsay Manufacturing’s commitment to quality and innovation, supported by Bison’s engineering solutions, has reinforced its position as a leader in the commercial vacuum system industry.

“The feedback from our dealers and customers has been overwhelmingly positive,” Fraser shared. “They’ve noticed the difference in both reliability and ease of maintenance.

With this partnership, we feel confident in continuing to lead the industry with innovative, high-quality solutions.”
