Taiwan Emerges as a Key Player in India’s Machine Tool Market with 20.8% Growth

Bengaluru, January 23, 2025: Taiwan Excellence (TE) pavilion is making a significant impact at IMTEX 2025, South and South-East Asia’s leading exhibition for machine tools and manufacturing technology, held in Bengaluru. The pavilion offers an exclusive opportunity to explore Next-Gen manufacturing tools from 13 renowned Taiwanese brands, including AXISCO, AutoGrip, CHMER, HIWIN, Honor Seiki, INNGRIT, KANFON, MECOM, PALMARY, QUASER, OSCARMAX, SYNTEC and TBI Motion.

As India becomes the fourth-largest importer of Taiwanese machine tools, TE’s presence at the exhibition highlights innovative advancements and signifies the strengthening trade partnership between the two nations. In 2024, Taiwan’s machine tool industry capitalized on new opportunities in India, with exports increasing by an impressive 20.8% year-on-year, reaching US$145.87 million.

The exhibition begins today and will run from January 23rd to 29th at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). During the exhibition, TE pavilion will showcase 17 cutting-edge technologies to enhance India’s manufacturing sector. On the first day, TE organized a high-tech product launch session titled “Crafting Excellence for a Progressive Tomorrow” unveiling groundbreaking technologies from five prominent brands, including Chmer, Quaser, Palmary, Syntec, and Hiwin. Among the innovative products were:

CHMER: UA432L Wire Cut EDM delivers precision and intelligence for electronics, automotive, and medical manufacturing with 48 patented technologies for accuracy and efficiency.

PALMARY: Offers dual spindles for grinding multiple dimensions in one setup, with automation for mass production and enhanced accuracy through optical scales.

QUASER: Supports mass production and automation with key components ensuring efficiency and cost control.

HIWIN: i4.0GW® provides predictive maintenance, maximizing efficiency and reducing waste in semiconductor and automation sectors.

SYNTEC: Advanced control systems for 5-axis machining, featuring user-friendly design, smart maintenance, and data security.

Mr. Richard Chen, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in Chennai said, “India’s manufacturing sector is a global leader in machinery, automotive, and defense, undergoing a remarkable transformation with Industry 4.0 and IoT. Taiwan is proud to be a trusted partner in this journey, offering advanced automation and machine tools solutions that enhance efficiency and align with the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

“At IMTEX 2025, we are showcasing cutting-edge products from renowned Taiwanese brands, designed to empower Indian manufacturers. Together, Taiwan and India share a vision of progress through innovation, driving advancements in machinery and automation for a brighter future, he added.

Shri M G Balakrishna, President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) stated, “It is an honor to be part of the Taiwan Excellence product launch session today at IMTEX 2025. Taiwan’s remarkable contributions to India’s manufacturing ecosystem reflect not just innovation but also a deep commitment to collaboration and progress. The cutting-edge tools unveiled today will help Indian companies enhance operational efficiency, improve product quality, and adopt sustainable practices, enabling them to stay competitive in a dynamic global market. Industry associations like FKCCI are eager to collaborate with initiatives like Taiwan Excellence to facilitate knowledge exchange, promote joint ventures, and create opportunities that drive industrial growth and innovation in India.”

TE is actively participating in various prestigious events in India to strengthen collaborations with Indian industry partners, government bodies, and companies, with IMTEX 2025 being one of the key platforms. As the Indian government takes steps to boost manufacturing capabilities, TE is reaffirming its position as a global leader in innovation and demonstrating its strong commitment to supporting India’s manufacturing ecosystem. With a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3% from 2025 to 2030, Taiwan’s machine tools market is set for significant growth, targeting US$3,477.1 million in revenue by 2030. India stands as a key partner to Taiwan, not only in manufacturing but across various sectors, united by a shared passion and vision for progress.
