Q. Indian machine tools industry possess incredible power to improve the overall standard of living in the country, Please, brief us about recent initiatives undertaken by RAJKOT MACHINE TOOLS MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION in machine tools space?
We have prepared yearly training calendar includes various subjects related to machine tools industries and latest management practices. We are organizing seminars and training programs at regular intervals through out the year. We found really very fantastic results from our members by showing keen interest and attending seminars and acquire lots of information on related subject from experts. We have formed one cluster from our members for implementing “Lean manufacturing competitiveness Scheme” adopted by Government of India. Duration of this project is 18 months and divide in to 5 different stages. This project are now running very successfully in it’s third stage. With the guideline of IMTMA, our association have also plan one program to create awareness among fresh engineering students of various Engineering colleges from Rajkot. Under this program IMTMA have plan to share information through presentation on importance of “Opportunities in manufacturing Industries” Presentation will be given by Highly qualify Experts from IMTMA.
Q. What are the growth opportunities for machine tools industry in India? How does RMTMA as an apex body is facilitating machine tools manufacturers to cope up with these opportunities?
Prime minister of India have announced “Make in India” campaign will definitely boost manufacturing sector of India. For any manufacturing unit machines are the prime requirement and hence we believe that there are lots of potential in the sector of Machine Manufacturing. Now a days buyer are become more and more demanding, price sensitive, focusing more on performance and after sales service of machines. In this circumstances as a association, we are continuously puts our efforts and emphasis to create awareness among our members to focus on customer’s expectation to cope up market demand.
Q. Please elucidate the export performance of Indian machine tools products from Rajkot? What are the initiatives undertaken by RMTMA boost the export figures?
Majority of our members are in the field of manufacturing of Conventional type of machines and market for conventional machines are mostly in under develop countries. It is matter of proud for Rajkot that some of our members are in the field of manufacturing of CNC machine with world class technology and having world class infrastructure. Demand of such machines are globally. At present due to Global recession, export demand are not up to the mark but once situation improves there are lots of opportunities for export market. To enter in to export market, It is necessary to exhibit our product in global market. Visiting and participation in International machine tools exhibition provides best platform and play roll of catalyst. As a association we are providing necessary help and creates platform for our members to arrange group visit in International Exhibition. Some of our members are regularly visiting in International exhibition.
Q. What is the demand scenario of Indian products in global market?
Indian Machines have create good repo in global market. We have to work hard for getting order from export market and prove our product better in quality, Technology, delivery, and price compare to other global players to grab export markets.
Q. What are the key technological trends that are driving machine tools industry?
Now a days customers expect less dependability of human skill, fatigueless operation, trouble free performance in machines. Various latest technology like atomization in loading / unloading of components, robotics solution, in process measuring sensors, high tech safety features etc are available and it create good value of product.
Q. Is there any special initiatives that were executed or to be executed by RMTMA in creating awareness of latest technology trends among the machine tools manufacturers?
Today sources to acquire information on latest technology are easy but to adopt such technology are seems big difficulties due to various reasons. As a association our aim should be to create awareness among our member to adopt new technology in their manufacturing process as well as in their product. Regular seminars, visiting and participation in various national / International exhibition are one of the way to create awareness for up gradation of product.
Q. According to you what are the measures taken by Indian manufacturers in order to compete with global players?
Our industries are performing very well. To compete with global players we have to prove our product best by improving Aesthetic and quality of machine as well as by adding latest technology for performance and safety of machine.
Q. How do your foresee the future of the Indian machine tools industry?
Approximately 40 % of total requirement of machine tools are consumed by Indigenous production and balance requirements are full fill by export. Hence there are lots of potential in
this sector.
Q. Being the president of RMTMA, what is your vision for this association for coming years?
IMTMA and MTMA had Jointly organize Vision 2020 Regional Conclave at Udaipur during April 2014. Around 32 companies from Rajkot had participant this event. During these 3 days session lots of brain storming exercise were done under the guide line of highly qualified experts from IMTMA and crafted Mission 2020 with the guide line of Vision 2020 crafted by IMTMA
At present RMTMA have membership of around 250 plus members and Rajkot is consider one of the biggest hub of Machine Tools manufacturing in India. Rajkot comes very next to Bangalore. Our aim is to take position of number one in the machine tools manufacturing sector in India by collective efforts of all the members of RMTMA
