Founded in 1873, and joining the Amalgamations Group in 1943, Addison & Co. has built a lasting legacy in India’s industrial landscape. The Amalgamations Group itself is a powerhouse of diverse industries — including Simpson, TAFE, Bimetal Bearings & Co., LM Van Moppes Diamond Tools India Pvt. Ltd., IP Rings, Amco Batteries, Higginbothams, and T. Stanes & Co. — providing Addison with a strong foundation of expertise, collaboration, and industrial excellence.

Addison’s journey from a traditional business house to a pioneer in cutting tool research and manufacturing began in 1955, positioning the company at the forefront of India’s cutting tools industry and laying the groundwork for decades of innovation, domestic growth, and global expansion. By 1963, Addison ventured into exports, supplying high-quality HSS cutting tools to over 35 countries. This commitment to precision and reliability earned the company the Export Excellence Award from EEPC India for 20 consecutive years, a testament to consistent global standards and unwavering quality.

    Customer Centric

Manufacturing Excellence – Cutting Tools, Machine Tools & Foundry

At the heart of Addison’s capabilities is its cutting tool manufacturing division, producing HSS and carbide tools that meet the most demanding engineering requirements. With advanced machining, rigorous quality control, and a focus on innovation, each tool delivers precision, durability, and performance across automotive, aerospace, defence, and general engineering sectors. These efforts support India’s Make in India initiative, reinforcing domestic manufacturing and enabling self-reliance in high-quality industrial tools.

The Machine Tool Division complements this strength, offering a wide range of advanced machines — from grinding and resharpening equipment to specialized accessories for critical operations. Rapid prototyping, custom designs, and high-volume production are seamlessly integrated, maximizing efficiency while maintaining uncompromising quality standards.

Supporting these capabilities is the Addison Foundry, established in 1970, supplying high-quality machined castings for various industries. This facility strengthens the manufacturing ecosystem by providing dependable components with superior metallurgical control, reinforcing Addison’s reputation for technical excellence and reliability in industrial applications beyond
    cutting tools.

Addison is also the first HSS cutting tool company in India to establish an in-house PVD coating facility using sputtering technology, built exclusively for coating cutting tools. This purpose-built facility underscores Addison’s commitment to delivering unmatched tool life, precision, and performance.

With the capacity to manufacture the complete range of cutting tools — including drills, centre drills, taps, endmills, cutters, hobs, and broaches — Addison’s fully integrated in-house production of HSS and carbide tools, backed by cutting-edge technology and robotic heat treatment, ensures precision and quality at every stage. These capabilities allow the company to deliver high-performance tools at competitive prices, making Addison a trusted partner for all machining solutions.

    Customer-Centric Approach & Digital Transformation

Customer experience is central to Addison’s operations. Advanced ERP systems and the ADOS dealer platform enable rapid order processing, custom solutions, and seamless digital engagement. Digital simulations, smart automation, and data-driven insights enhance operational efficiency and decision-making, driving future-ready manufacturing. This combination of technology and customer focus builds long-term loyalty and trust, turning every interaction into a value-added experience.

    Leadership Through Adaptation and Excellence

Guided by the philosophy “Tools for a Changing World,” Addison continually adapts to technological revolutions, emerging materials, and evolving customer needs. Environmental responsibility, rigorous quality standards, and continuous innovation are embedded across operations. Serving markets in Europe, the USA, and beyond, Addison’s product portfolio is trusted by global manufacturers and engineering leaders alike.

Strategic Expansion: Carbide, PCD & CBN Tools

Innovation has always been at the heart of Addison’s growth. Expansion into carbide tooling seamlessly integrates R&D, manufacturing, and customer insights to meet the exacting standards of the automotive, aerospace, and defence industries. Through collaboration with a leading European partner, Addison brings premium carbide thread milling tools and quick-turning solutions to Indian manufacturers, ensuring access to the latest global advancements in precision tooling.

A significant milestone was the partnership with LM Van Moppes Diamond Tools India Pvt. Ltd., enabling the delivery of PCD and PCBN tools alongside traditional cutting solutions. This integration creates a one-stop shop for precision machining, allowing manufacturers to benefit from technical expertise, application-specific advice, and decades of combined experience. These initiatives reflect Addison’s global leadership aspirations, demonstrating its ability to compete internationally while setting benchmarks in quality and innovation.

Innovation Centre: Where Ideas Take Shape

At Addison’s Chennai Innovation Centre, design, engineering, and experimentation converge. Engineers and scientists constantly push the boundaries of tool geometry, concepts, designs, and coatings, driving innovations that set new standards in precision tooling.

A Culture of Youthful Energy and Technical Excellence

Addison thrives on a dynamic and skilled workforce, passionate about innovation and cross-disciplinary problem-solving. This energy translates into faster product launches, optimized processes, and continuity of excellence across all operations.

    Cost-Effective, Sustainable Solutions

Through vertical integration, process automation, and sustainability initiatives, Addison delivers tools designed for longevity, productivity, and cost efficiency. Transparent pricing, efficient dealer platforms, and responsive service further enhance the value proposition for clients across industries.

    Conclusion: The Partner of Choice

With integrated facilities encompassing cutting tool and machine tool manufacturing, advanced coating, an innovation centre, and digital platforms, Addison stands as a trusted partner and one-stop solution provider. Coordinated in-house processes, technical expertise, and high-quality products ensure excellence from concept to completion, supporting India’s Make in India vision while pursuing global leadership in precision engineering.

Where tradition meets innovation, delivering tools that drive tomorrow.
